Our bookstore is located in Davis, Ca underneath the towns train tunnel, making it the first building one sees. We provide free coffee, tea, and wi-fi where guests may read and enjoy free drinks in our lounge. Established over three decades ago, the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts has earned numerous honors, supported emerging artists, and advanced fine art with its dynamic and forward-thinking concern. The Natsoulas Press has published major books about some of the most recognized artists in their specific field such as, Roy DeForest, Esther Shimazu, Robert Arneson, and Arthur Gonzalez. In addition to the Funk art movement, we have major publications on the Northern California Beat generation which was centrally focused on Bay Area artists and the Beat movement. Our three hundred and twenty-one page book, “The Beat Generation Galleries and Beyond” is one of the largest group of monographs on the California Beat movement that you can find anywhere.
Located beyond the bookstore are three floors of beautiful exhibition space which features many of the artists published in our bookstore, as well as a rooftop sculpture garden. For over thirty years, Natsoulas Press has established unique and informative books that are representative of various California art movements, as well as providing an inclusive space to read them in.
John Natsoulas Press continues in this direction, publishing hundreds of artists’ catalogs and books, hosting educational conferences, and spearheading the country’s first Transmedia Art Walk in downtown Davis, with its fifty plus sculptures and murals by local artists.
